Lily Mazur-Margules, R.T. was born in Vilna, Poland to professional parents David, a pharmacist, and Guta, a dentist. Along with her sister Rachel, Lily was raised with cultural exposure to music and the arts, and given the best possible education. Her charmed life ended in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. She is a survivor of the Vilna Ghetto, Kaiserwald Concentration Camp, Dunawerke Slave Labor Camp, and "The Dead March." The Mazur sisters were liberated by Russian troops in 1945 and, after a long odyssey through Russian field hospitals, convalescent hospitals, and Displaced Persons Camps in Germany and Italy, immigrated to Buenos Aires in 1948. In 1956, Lily and her husband, Edward, along with their two sons, arrived on the shores of the United States, and her life began anew in New York, where she resides today. Lily is a retired Radiotherapy Technician, proud of her family's accomplishments and dedicated to telling and re-telling of the darkest era in human history in honor of those who can no longer speak for themselves.
